Constructed in light weight durable aluminum, the 2.5" Disk Array BPU-124V2-SS chassis is well ventilated with 2 cooling fans to ensure effective heat dissipation on all 4 drives. The back plane connection include both SAS and SATA connectors and each drive drawer is equipped with power and drive access LEDs.

| Q | What is SAS (Serial Attached SCSI)? |
| A | Serial Attached SCSI is the future version of SCSI. It will be connected via a serial interface and thus uses cables much more compact then "normal" parallel SCSI which leads to better airflow. At launch the maximum speed will be 3 Gbits /sec. SAS will support up to 128 devices and a maximum cable length of 8 metres , both internally and externally. SAS host controllers will also be able to be used for attaching SATA (Serial-ATA) devices. Both SAS and SATA use the same type of connectors which makes it possible to connect SAS and SATA devices to the same backplane! The image below shows both connector types. |
